Mark Jakins to represent Peermont Group at EIS | The Planner

Mark-JakinsThe 2015 Event Industry Summit aims to unite event industry stakeholders and qualified corporate buyers and provide a platform for industry-related topics to be discussed by the leaders in the industry, ultimately growing the power of the event industry.

Delegates can expect many informative discussion panels with industry experts on a wide range of industry topics. There will be three sessions with each session having a brief scene-setter followed by a panel discussion lead by a seasoned facilitator.

PANEL 1 SPEAKER

Mark Jakins rejoined the Peermont group in 2006 after spending four years with Global Resorts in the formative years. He is responsible for regional operations with general managers reporting to him. He also directs the marketing strategy, brand strategy and positioning, advertising, public relations, direct marketing and loyalty programmes, customer relations and management, publishing management, entertainment, international and local sales, corporate affairs and CSI for the Group.

From 2001 to 2006, Mark was chief executive of commercial enterprises at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) where he directed the new brand portfolio strategy and commercial operations of the 23 radio and television channels, which led to the financial turnaround of the company – responsible for airtime advertising sales and sponsorships, marketing, audience services and TV licences, and merchandising and mobile business units.

Prior to this he held senior management or director positions in Budget Car Rental, Southern Sun and Sun International. Mark holds a bachelor of social sciences (economics and marketing) from the University of Natal, M.A.C. qualification from Unilever, and served on the National Advisory Council of the Vega Brand Communication School.
