The popular South African entertainment and event mecca, Sun City, celebrated it’s reopening earlier this month after the country entered lockdown level 1 – and the celebrations continued into Heritage Day with colourful song and dance.

Entertainers spontaneously appeared across the resort on 24 September, performing flash mob singing and dancing to the delight of Sun Vacation Club holidaymakers. Artists included the likes of Amakhono We Sintu Choir, Segaetso Tswana Cultural Dancers and Bollywood Dancers, while Sunset Sweatshop performed at the Valley of Waves.

The day was also recognized through traditional dress, as holidaymakers proudly showed off their cultural roots, and in a record 187 units fired up their braais in unison.

All health and safety protocols are strictly being followed as the celebration continues throughout the long weekend and ends this Sunday, 27 September 2020. The Sun Vacation Club is fully booked for the Heritage long weekend.

Hoppé added, “Before Covid-19, Sun City had been operating 365-days a year for 40 years, so to say that we are excited to have reopened, is an understatement.
“With international travel open from October 1 following government’s announcement of a move to Level 1 of lockdown, Sun City is looking forward to welcoming back our international guests, who make up 30% of our revenue.”
