GUVON HOTELS: United against Rhino poaching | The Planner

Guvon Hotels & Spas is taking a humorous approach to a very serious matter. With rhino poaching on the increase, Guvon Hotels & Spas is implementing a number of promotions and events to increase awareness and collect funds for Anti-Rhino poaching and is appealing to the general public and corporates to support these initiatives.

With many large corporations at a loss of how to contribute to the poaching problem, Askari Game Lodge is inviting Corporates to adopt a Rhino (or any of the Big 5) by contributing towards the cost of its tracking system. Join our Horny Forever wall of fame with your own company brass plaque and share the responsibility of saving our Big 5 for the next generation.

Contributing on a smaller scale, the monthly Askari Game Lodge market day, takes place amongst the ox-wagon collection and inside the Heritage Museum on the first Sunday of every month. The exhibitor table rental on the day goes towards the fund. Although entry to the market day is free, visitors are asked to donate one or more books as an entry fee. To date the sales from the book table has been hugely successful and the total income from book sales goes towards the Rhino Fund.

The Horny Forever campaign further extends itself to festive cocktails at all the Guvon Hotels. Charging Rhino cocktails will be available from all the Guvon hotels with 50% of the sales price going towards the Rhino Fund. Donned in cheeky Horny Forever aprons, the bar staff at all hotels will be serving cocktails for the Rhino Funds with a smile. Anecdotes about the potency of rhino horn is sure to fly around at any given time while Charging Rhinos are being served. Horny Forever aprons and T-shirts will be for sale at all Guvon properties throughout September and while stock lasts.

Askari Game Lodge in Magaliesburg will be using the funds to assist with the protection of the rhinos on its property. Although a very efficient security system is in place to protect our Big 5, one can never be too vigilant, says Reserve manager and Elephant Stable Master,
Theo Potgieter. Our aim is to raise around R100,000 which will assist us in tightening our tracking systems and software. For further information on the market day or Rhino Fund promotions, please contact crm@kloofzicht.co.za
