AIPC Innovation Award 2026: 2 weeks left to apply | The Planner
Innovation in convention centres does not always mean inventing something entirely new.

Verry often, it is about improving the way things are done: rethinking a process, enhancing a service, solving an operational challenge, or finding a smarter and more effective way to work.

That is exactly what the AIPC Innovation Award 2026 is designed to recognise.

With just 2 weeks left before the application deadline on 31 March 2026, this is a final call for centres to put forward initiatives that have made a real difference in their organisation.

Recent winners illustrate the wide range of innovations that can qualify. In 2025, Marina Bay Sands was recognised for its Tech-Enhanced Mobility initiative using AI-supported tools to improve operational efficiency and staff ergonomics. The Delegate’s Choice Award went to QSNCC for its Waste Not, Delight More programme, which repurposes food waste while enhancing visitor experience and supporting the community.

In previous years, centres have been recognised for initiatives ranging from immersive event planning technologies (La Cité Nantes), to experiential lounges redefining the business traveller experience (Palais des congrès de Montréal), client concierge programmes (Calgary BMO Convention Centre), or sustainability and resource management initiatives across venue operations.

Applications are evaluated not only on originality, but also on impact, practicality, measurable benefits, and how transferable the innovation may be to other facilities. In other words, innovation does not need to be invented from scratch, many of the strongest applications come from centres that simply found a better way to do things.

Finalists will present their initiatives live during the Innovation from Inside session at the AIPC Annual Conference in Bilbao, where two distinctions will be awarded:

  • The Jury Award, selected by an independent panel of experts
  • The Delegate’s Choice Award, voted live by peers during the Conference
  • Beyond recognition, the Award offers international visibility, peer recognition, and the opportunity to inspire the global convention centre community.

To submit an application, please contact the AIPC Secretariat to request the application form and evaluation criteria.

Applications close on 31 March 2026.

We look forward to discovering your innovation.
