Chat’r Xperience is pleased to announce that its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, John Arvanitakis, has graduated Summa Cum Laude from the School for the Art & Science of Event Management, following the successful completion of the Event Architecture® Principles of Event Management in Practice™ (EAPoEMiP) programme.

The achievement was formally recognised at the graduation ceremony held on 28 October 2026, where Arvanitakis was awarded the professional designation of Certified Event Architecture Practitioner (CEAP™).

In addition to his academic distinction, Arvanitakis received the Spirit of Participation Award, a peer-recognised honour acknowledging his professional engagement, collegial leadership, constructive participation and meaningful contribution to the collective learning experience of his fellow candidates.

Industry Experience and Leadership
With more than three decades of experience in the events, exhibitions and business events industry, Arvanitakis undertook the intensive 26-week programme as part of his ongoing commitment to professional development and advancing industry standards.

Beyond his role as Founder and CEO of Chat’r Xperience, Arvanitakis currently serves as Chairperson of the Event Greening Forum (EGF) and as a Council Member of the Council of Event Professionals Africa (CEPA). He was also recently appointed to the Festival of Eventing 2027 Advisory Panel, having previously served on the Meetings Africa 2026 Advisory Panel.

His industry leadership experience includes previously serving as Chairperson of the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI) Gauteng Branch Committee, reflecting his longstanding involvement in professional industry associations and initiatives aimed at strengthening South Africa’s business events sector.

Arvanitakis is also the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Garden Route Unfound, a newly established Destination Management Company (DMC) dedicated to positioning and promoting the Garden Route region of the Western Cape as a competitive destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). The venture seeks to showcase the region’s diverse venues, tourism offerings and experiences while attracting business events and supporting the growth of the regional MICE economy.

Professional Development Remains Essential
Reflecting on the experience, Arvanitakis emphasised the importance of continued professional education, irrespective of an individual’s experience or seniority within the industry.

“After more than three decades in the events industry, I firmly believe that professional development should never stop. The EAPoEMiP programme has been an exceptionally rewarding experience that challenged me to critically evaluate established practices, broaden my knowledge and further strengthen my understanding of contemporary event management principles.”

Arvanitakis also expressed his strong endorsement of the School for the Art & Science of Event Management and its approach to professional education.

“I would highly recommend the School and this programme to anyone seeking to advance their professional competence and achieve a recognised designation in event management.

“The course is intensive and academically demanding, but its content is highly relevant to the realities of our industry, with standards informed by international best practice.

“It certainly challenges even the most experienced event manager, and that is precisely what makes it so valuable. It encourages practitioners to look beyond their existing experience, question conventional approaches and embrace a more structured, strategic and professional approach to event management.”

Arvanitakis added that the programme reinforced the importance of integrating sound governance, risk management, sustainability, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning into contemporary event management practices.

Recognition Beyond Academic Achievement
Commenting on the unexpected Spirit of Participation Award, Arvanitakis said:
“Receiving this award was a complete surprise and an incredibly humbling experience. To be recognised by my fellow candidates for contributing to their learning journey is particularly meaningful. The opportunity to share knowledge, exchange experiences and learn from other professionals was one of the most rewarding aspects of the programme.”

For Chat’r Xperience, the achievement reflects the company’s commitment to continuous improvement, professional excellence and the application of recognised event management principles in delivering innovative and responsible event experiences.
