The Coca-Cola dome continues to impress | The Planner

Not only has the Coca-Cola dome become recognised as one of Joburg’s most easily identified landmarks, it has since its launch in 1997, taken its rightful place as a sought after special event and exhibition venue. Throughout the year the Coca-Cola dome literally transforms itself time and again to host Joburg’s latest entertainment spectaculars.

Explaining the almost ‘chameleon-like’ abilities of the venue is Warren Green, Commercial Manager of Coca-Cola dome “Our support structures and excellent supplier relationships enable us to meet the needs of all our clients and we are always open to trying something different and new.”

During August 2013, the Coca-Cola dome hosted The Wedding Expo for the tenth consecutive year, as well as the 15th annual Getaway Show.  “The return year after year of these two prestigious exhibitions is an indicator that we must be doing something right, but we never rest on our laurels and with each event we strive to improve the experience for the event organisers, exhibitors, and visitors,” says Green.

The Coca-Cola dome has already hosted the Gauteng Homemakers Expo, Cirque de Soleil: Dralion, Mama Magic – The Baby Expo, Grand Designs Live, and Disney on Ice among a range of others. Things are not going to be slowing down any time soon either and there are still some exciting events scheduled for 2013.

The African debut of the world’s leading dance event, Sensation ‘Innerspace’, will be happening at the Coca-Cola dome on 7 September 2013. An international DJ line-up never before seen (or heard) in South Africa will entertain with a sea of music – dance enthusiasts have been encouraged to wear only white. “Sensation ‘Innerspace’ has been a hit internationally and draws massive crowds,” explains Green “and Coca-Cola dome is the only venue in South Africa that is able to host this type of event.”

From 11 to 13 October 2013, Coca-Cola dome will be home to the Pet&Me Expo and the FCI World Agility Championships event. An attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the collection of the largest quantity of pet food in a 7-day period is an event highlight and the Coca-Cola dome will play a key supporting role in this endeavour.

The continued growth and popularity of cycling in South Africa has necessitated that the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge be moved to a bigger venue that is better able to cope with the large number of people expected, and the Coca-Cola dome is excited to be hosting the Expo from 14 to 16 November 2013.

These events are just some of the exciting entertainment lined up for the remainder of 2013, visit www.coca-coladome.co.za for more information.
