Popular hotel to get facelift | The Planner

The popular Protea Hotel Capital, perfectly situated on the edge of Pretoria’s CBD, is undergoing a phased refurbishment of its public areas.

The elegant Thistle Cocktail Bar is the first space to receive attention. The bar facelift will take about a month to complete, with the balance of the renovations finished by the end of February next year.

Derick Tait, Managing Director at Boulevard Hotels, which owns the hotel, says included in the hotel makeover is Laird’s Restaurant, which offers a delectable buffet breakfast and is open for dinner as well, and the comfortable lounge area that is currently decorated in warm, dark hues.

Says Tait: “The hotel has been well kept over the last 15 Years but the time has come to give this well positioned property a good facelift with a new fresh look. The hotel has been a landmark in the Pretoria CBD but with this injection and fresh look it will certainly be the place to be when visiting our country’s capital city CBD.

Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, says Protea Hotel Capital is the 13th Protea Hotel to undergo refurbishment this year.

“There is ongoing investment in our properties to maintain and exceed brand standards and to provide GUESTS with the best experience possible in our hotels.

“Protea Hotel Capital is a very popular property, not least of it because of its central location close to many government departments, the State Theatre and the Botanical Gardens. This refurbishment will serve to make it an even more popular destination.”

The Protea Hotel Capital offers 104 luxury rooms and 6 well-equipped conference rooms. Its enclosed pool patio area is the perfect location to enjoy a sundowner, or conduct an informal business meeting.
