Sustainable Events – Getting It Right | The Planner

We are pleased to announce our first training session of the year. This session is aimed at Event coordinators, Managers and Senior decision-makers.

It will provide attendees with a better understanding of what Green Events and Meetings are and how these can add value to their portfolio and to their client satisfaction ratings. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the Event Greening Forum (EGF), Minimum Standard for Sustainable Events and the confidence to implement change at organisational level.

All attendees will be required to complete a written evaluation at the end of this workshop to qualify for a Certificate of Attendance.

Course Content:

  • Welcome and Introductions
  • Introducing the EGF – unpacking the EGF and the role that it plays in the greening of the event and meetings space
  • Understanding Sustainability – gaining a better understanding of what green is; how it affects the industry; the impact of meetings and the need for change
  • Reviewing the Sustainable Event Guidelines – unpacking the EGF Sustainability Guidelines and how they affect your event
  • Planning for Success – why sustainability is so important from the planning stage, and how to ensure that it supports the client’s event objectives
  • The Marketplace – identifying and sourcing sustainable products, services and gifting for events
  • Communicating Sustainability – organising a sustainable event requires clear and effective communication of your objectives – and achievements!
  • Minimising your Footprint – Understanding your impact in respect of water, energy, waste and emissions – and reducing these effectively
  • Measuring performance – ensuring that your efforts are effective and recognised
  • Offsets – knowing what you can offset and how to select your initiative can be risky – learn the differences
  • Leaving a Legacy – how to ensure that your community benefits from the event as well. What is possible and what to avoid
  • Reporting and Publicity – how to report on your performance and learn from your mistakes
