City Lodge Hotel Maputo opened its doors on 7 February 2020, making it the 62nd hotel in the City Lodge Hotel Group (CLHG). Located on Rua Para o Palmar in Mozambique’s capital city, the hotel is a quick 12 minute drive (6.5km) to the Maputo International Airport, as well as being conveniently located close to Costa do Sol beach, as well as the city centre and various other business, entertainment, shopping and cultural attractions.
CLHG CEO Andrew Widegger says, “We are excited about growth prospects in Mozambique and our new City Lodge Hotel Maputo is ready to accommodate both business and leisure travellers.”
City Lodge Hotel Maputo has 148 rooms, including one suite. All guest rooms feature en suite bathrooms with maxi showers (selected rooms have baths), queen bed or twin beds, air-conditioning, WiFi, television with selected DStv channels, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe, fridge, USB ports on either side of the bed, and work desk with lighting and plugs for easy connectivity. Three of the rooms are designed for universal access.
Additionally, the hotel has three boardrooms that accommodate 12, 14 and 24 people respectively, while one of the board rooms can also convert into two separate rooms that can 12 seat people each.
Other amenities include the #Café restaurant, a swimming pool, bar, fitness room, free parking, same day laundry, and 24-hour reception and check in service.

This latest development completes CLHG’s initial expansion plan of seven hotels outside of South Africa that began in 2015. These properties include:

- Fairview Hotel (127 rooms), Town Lodge Upper Hill (84 rooms) and City Lodge Hotel at Two Rivers Mall (171 rooms) all in Nairobi, Kenya
- City Lodge Hotel Dar es Salaam in Tanzania (148 rooms)
Additionally, construction is under way on the CLHG “new concept” Courtyard Hotel Waterfall City, in Johannesburg, South Africa, which is due to be completed in November 2020. This 10 story hotel will boast a rooftop bar/function area as well as a 100-seater conference facility. It will have 160 rooms as well as four suites and four standard studios, meeting rooms, a swimming pool and gym.
Courtyard Hotel Waterfall City will be the sixth Courtyard Hotel within the group, complementing one each in Pretoria and Port Elizabeth and three in Johannesburg.
