Get ready to visit PlanetIMEX! | The Planner

On 06 May 2020, the IMEX Group will launch a new project they have been working on: PlanetIMEX. This virtual experience offers visitors unlimited, free access to three islands that are created in 3D and have interactive features to explore their different content and activities.

“Each island has a distinct theme, from a beach-themed Community Island, to a forest-inspired Education Island and a Networking Island characterised by canyons, mountains and valleys.”

“We decided early on that we wanted to gift something back to the industry we love while continuing our commitment to providing high-quality education, business and networking value,” IMEX Group CEO, Carina Bauer said.

“Rather than switch to a one-off online event, in true IMEX fashion, we opted for innovation through transformation. Instinctively we looked to our Nature Talking Point for inspiration.”

Each island has a distinct theme, from a beach-themed Community Island, to a forest-inspired Education Island and a Networking Island characterised by canyons, mountains and valleys.

“While nothing can replace meeting face-to-face, it’s important that as industry leaders, we make the best of this current situation, and to be able to help IMEX deliver their great content to their global audience in an interactive, compelling way is really exciting.”

Meetings technology provider, Cvent, has sponsored and delivered the project. Patrick Smith, the company’s CMO, said, “While the in-person experience at IMEX in Frankfurt will be greatly missed this year, our teams have collaborated to create a unique and deeply engaging virtual environment. While nothing can replace meeting face-to-face, it’s important that as industry leaders, we make the best of this current situation, and to be able to help IMEX deliver their great content to their global audience in an interactive, compelling way is really exciting.”

Both Community Island and Education Island will be open to industry visitors from 06 May. This will be followed by themed days, such as:

  • EduMonday on 11 May will be a day of education and interactive content, including a keynote address by Guy Bigwood, managing director of the Global Destination Sustainability Index. Click here to register to attend it.
  • IMEX Community Day on 12 May will deliver content by a range of IMEX’s association and other partners. It will also include the IMEX-MPI Future Leaders Forum.
  • IMEX Introductions on 14 May will encourage industry buyers and suppliers to explore potential new business relationships and spark up one-to-one conversations through the Networking island.
  • Specialist content will be featured on 18 May. This is aimed at specific buyer communities, including a new interpretation of Exclusively Corporate, the Agency Directors Forum and Association Focus.

IMEX Group plans to expand the content, programmes and engagement opportunities on PlanetIMEX in the future. Access is free although registration is required for both educational content and IMEX Introductions.
