International infrastructure and exhibition giant GL events has thrown its substantial weight behind the fight against cancer. The South African division of the largest eventing and exhibition company in the world, GL events Oasys, has committed to support PinkDrive with its infrastructure needs for numerous sporting events in 2014.
“We at GL events Oasys applaud the work PinkDrive does. A business is only as strong as the community that surrounds and supports it and here at GL events Oasys we are only too aware of the cancer endemic in South Africa and within our own community. The fit between large sporting events, ourselves and PinkDrive is a good synergy that we are proud to be a part of,” said CEO of GL events Oasys Mark Strydom.
GL events Oasys have availed themselves to any infrastructure requirements PinkDrive team may have for their stands at sporting events around SA. From constructing exhibition stands, to AV and electrical needs, carpeting and furniture requirements, assistance with décor and design – GL events Oasys has endeavored to supply and construct the PinkDrive’s display needs.
PinkDrive is SA’s well-known breast cancer community carer which visits communities all over SA taking a proactive stance of driving home the fact that “early detection saves lives”.
To date PinkDrive has provided over 5000 free mammograms, conducted over 54,000 clinical breast examinations in community areas, educated over 79,000 people and distributed over 90,000 educational materials.
“If it wasn’t for GL events Oasys, PinkDrive would not be able to attract as many people to our stands. As far back as our inception five years ago GL events Oasys have been with PinkDrive and have been responsible for us winning either gold or silver at expos for our stands. We truly value this relationship and can recommend their services for events and exhibitions,” said Noelene Kotschan, CEO and founder of PinkDrive.
To date GL events Oasys has assisted with exhibition stands for PinkDrive at the Pick n Pay Cape Argus Momentum Cycle Tour, the Maritzburg Marathon Nappy Dash and the Midmar Mile. Upcoming events include Iron Man South Africa in Port Elizabeth, the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, the Comrades Marathon and the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge.
“Charity may start at home but it continues in the workplace. By supporting a cause like the Pink Drive is a way for us to give back in our area of expertise and at the same time makes us more socially responsible corporate citizens,” said Strydom.
