Participate in answering Africa’s call for more insights into the MICE industry! | The Planner

The African MICE industry has been hard at work during the lockdown in its bid to consider new ways to collaborate and remain resilient post-pandemic.

Two recent conferences focused on Africa working together i.e. the Global MICE Summit and the African Society of Association Executives Summit (Afsae), which underscored the opportunity of the African continent to grow its MICE industry from the current 3% contribution to the global figure of association meetings.

“Without data we can do very little, we need relevant and easily available data.”

Dr Geoffrey Manyara, Economic Affairs Officer in Charge of Tourism at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, spoke during the Global MICE Summit and highlighted that one of the key challenges in informing strategic growth of the sector stems from there being insufficient data to be able to give a clear view on the state of the industry.

This was further supported by the managing director of the African Association Management Company (AFAMCO) and Afsae Summit organiser, Nicanor Sabula, who said, “Without data we can do very little, we need relevant and easily available data.”

The African Perspectives MICE survey is currently underway and is calling on all MICE stakeholders – both clients and suppliers – to contribute to a new insights report that will help Africa identify and share opportunities on the continent.

An exciting announcement was made at both conferences with the publication of a new report that aims to consolidate insights from as many MICE industry stakeholders as possible. The African Perspectives MICE survey is currently underway and is calling on all MICE stakeholders – both clients and suppliers – to contribute to a new insights report that will help Africa identify and share opportunities on the continent.

The report follows on from the 2020 instalment with the aim of reaching more stakeholders in Africa. It will also include emerging trends and SWOT analysis.

If you are a client or supplier in the MICE industry, join African stakeholders in creating African knowledge for the continents shared benefit. All participants will receive a complimentary highlights report. #FutureAfricaMeetings
