Flocking together in the heart of Zululand recently to witness the official opening of Gooderson Leisure’s DumaZulu Game Lodge and Cultural Village exotic new bird aviary, a 3 000 square metre wonder-world, which includes an elevated walk way, waterfall features, and seated areas among local fauna and flora.
This is now the home to a wonderful collection of winged friends, Including split white California quails, black swans, cape teal, stone partridges, silver pheasants, eared doves, diamond doves, cut throats, superb starlings, red factor canaries, jawa sparrows, pied jawa sparrows, ribbon finches, Von Decon hornbills, brown Bahama pin tails, blue winged kookaburra, and many more.
This fascinating and beautiful aviary will provide a beautiful and entertaining treat for all that visit. The DumaZulu Cultural Village is an absolute must-see where one can learn everything there is to know about these exciting creatures.
Unveiling the sculptured hornbill which will stand at the entrance to this aviary at the official opening of the walk-thru bird park was His Majesty, Zwelithini Goodwill kaBhekuzulu, together with Queen Mantfombi Zulu, and Judith and Alan Gooderson.
His majesty in his presentation first opened DumaZulu twenty years ago and in his speech reminisced on his first visit, and made a call to all fellow South Africans to care and protect our nature and animals as it is a precious gift that we have.
