First MICE CPD Breakfast Briefing a success | The Planner

Developing, over a period of time together with our media partners, a CPD (Continuing Development Programme) programme which is geared to the use of technology is one aspect. It is quite another situation to take the same online format and apply similar requirements to a participatory session.

At the first Breakfast Briefing on Site Inspections for Venues – participants were put through their paces by applying every possible format to ensure high message retention – culminating in a CPD Online Test.

Unlike the online format in which essential pre-test reading material is needed – the Briefing consisted of pre-planned material in which participants were provided with high message retention indicators.  This in turn ensured that participants made notes for each heading in which presenter elaboration took place together with the visual power-point back-up.

Participants were briefly pre-prepared by registering for the online CPD Test – which meant that following the face-to-face presentations – the attendees went on-line with their laptops and independently undertook the confidential 15 questions with multiple choice answer.

On completion of the test – participants checked their incorrect answers as to the reason their answer was incorrect.  Their individual scores were duly recorded within their own personal log-in area.  Participants that scored 10 or more will receive authentic certificates of 3 credits for their own personal record-keeping via the MICE Safe allocated to each individual.

Commented the Cardinal Leisure initiators :‘Having identified the need for improved and continuing education on effective Site Visit’s at Venues, we appreciate the professional nature of the CPD Program. Our association with Helen Brewer and The MICE Academy will lead to improved service to both the venues and prospective clients. We view this Briefing as essential for venues and practitioners as an ongoing skills development program’.

The completed evaluation forms were proof of the high rating placed on this first Breakfast Briefing:

  •  ‘Really interesting and very helpful – please let us know when the next Briefing takes place’
  • ‘It was of great value to have an end-user client to explain how they experience a venue”
  • ‘Thank you for the opportunity, looking forward to continuing the relationship”

Further Briefing sessions are in the process of being planned.
