Mouton Du Toit was recently appointed as assistant general manager at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa.
Hailing from Cape Town and now living on site at Granny Mouse, Du Toit says that the friendly staff is what he most likes about his workplace.
Having studied web design and development and IT, Du Toit decided to choose hospitality as a career after he gained interest in it when he worked in London in 2002. “I was head bartender for a West End DJ bar and was there for about three and a half years. After this I spent about four years at Five Flies Restaurant in Cape Town . After this I moved to Mont Rochelle Hotel and Mountain Vineyards. I started here as a wine sommelier and then moved on to become the food and beverage manager. I was there for five years before moving to Granny Mouse where I have been for almost a year,” he said.
For him working in the hospitality industry is not always hard work and long hours, as he finds it very rewarding and lives by the motto “Get it done no matter what!”
In his spare time, you will find Du Toit enjoying some cycling, fishing, or wine tasting.
