Excitement is in the air as Mpongo Private Game Reserve prepares for a Night Under The Stars event.
Guests are invited to join renowned Astronomer Kevin Cole as he uncovers the giant tapestry of the Southern Sky, with his search for star clusters, nebulae and double stars.
Kevin has been the principal natural scientist at the East London Museum for the past 23 years. He started his career in conservation in 1986 and qualified at UCT with an MSc in Conservation Biology.
He has a broad knowledge base in palaeontology, archaeology, geology, geomorphology, coastal management, biodiversity conservation and astronomy.
Current specialist studies at the museum include ichnology (study of trace fossils, including the world’s oldest human fossil track way at Nahoon dated at 124 000 years), palaeoanthropology (curation of the world famous Hofmeyr skull dated at 36 000 years) and meteorites (curation of a
small meteorite collection). In recent years field work has included cetacean studies (stranding’s and necropsies).
Get ready to be swept away as you drive into the night. Once all the lights are out, guests will be transported to the world of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets and meteoroids.
