African Pride Irene Country Lodge expands and refurbishes at its luxury lakeside property

African Pride Irene Country Lodge has added a boardroom suite to its list of facilities and, at the same time, completed an elegant refurbishment of its 75 bedrooms and Meadow Green Restaurant.

The new boardroom suite is an exceptionally private meeting venue and can seat up to 12 people at the boardroom table that abuts an elegant lounge and opulent bedroom.

African Pride Hotels Director of Sales, Marketing & Revenue, Danny Bryer, says this adds to the country lodge’s appeal as an executive retreat, as well as provides an alternative to the hotel’s already extensive conference and events facilities, which can accommodate more than 200 people.

All the rooms in the tranquil hotel in the heart of Pretoria have undergone a soft refurbishment for a lighter, brighter look while maintaining the lodge’s uniquely South African country manor feel. Each has its own balcony with view overlooking the lake.

The darker, earthier tones have been replaced by softer, lighter shades in more natural fabrics, which make for a much more modern, yet thoroughly luxurious feel.

The ten Luxury King Rooms are situated at the outer edges of the natural Camdeboo Forest with a view to a lush, green meadow. There are eight Superior King Rooms and six Superior Loft Rooms, with their extra high ceilings, more directly inside the forest.

African Pride Irene Country Lodge’s Meadow Green Restaurant has been renovated to make it more contemporary, while remaining warm and charming. This public space is supported behind the scenes by an extended kitchen where newly appointed executive chef Alison Kiewiet uses her fusion talents to combine African, French and Asian cuisine with a unique local flavour.

The Lakeside Bar area and Gazebo have been updated and slightly converted so that there are little meeting nooks for quick meetings over drinks, and a children’s play area has also been added to the hotel, which attracts much family business over weekends and during events such as weddings and special anniversary parties.

Bryer says the extensive refurbishment is in line with the group’s commitment to maintain the highest standards for their discerning guests, who expect only the best when they check into African Pride Hotels.

Situated between Midrand and Pretoria in the heart of the country’s economic engine, African Pride Irene Country Lodge is fifteen minutes from the Union Buildings in Pretoria and a half-hour drive from Sandton. It lies opposite the Irene Dairy Farm and is near the Rietvlei Nature Reserve. Both the Irene and Centurion golf courses are close by, and the Southdowns Mall is just around the corner.
