Sun City opens new family-style Mediterranean restaurant, Bocado | The Planner

IMG_2959[2]Sun City’s five-star Cascades hotel is home to a new, upmarket Mediterranean restaurant, Bocado.

Replacing Santorini which closed in May 2015, Bocado pays homage to the rich culinary traditions of the Mediterranean, giving foodies a chance to explore classic and contemporary dishes.

The restaurant, a family-friendly eatery, is open daily for dinner and for lunch from Friday to Sunday. The atmosphere is decidedly-laidback in a crisp and modern setting.

“We are delighted to introduce Bocado. The restaurant offers a relaxed, no-fuss style of dining with great choice, friendly service, and fun atmosphere. It’s a family restaurant with a wonderful vibe and something for everyone, including the kids. Diners are assured superb quality and great value,” says Bruce McKay, hotel, food and beverages operations for Sun City.

Timeless Mediterranean favourites on the menu include spicy trinchado; kleftiko lamb shank, moussaka and Mediterranean-style lamb chops. True to the spirit of the Mediterranean, there is an extensive selection of fish and seafood dishes, from traditional sardines and seared salmon with crusted herbs to paella, and prawns. The tastes and flavours of Italy are highlighted in a choice of pasta meals and pizzas. Children are catered for with familiar favourites like spaghetti bolognaise; chicken strips; pizza and burgers. There is also a choice of Meze platters, laden with delicious Mediterranean savoury treats.

Diners can end their meander of Mediterranean cuisine with a decadent dessert such as baklava (Greek wafer drizzled with honey and nuts served with vanilla bean ice-cream); affogato (rich, creamy ice-cream served with a shot of espresso) or strawberry panna cotta (served with homemade butterscotch parfait). Large groups can also make use of set menus.
