Valley Lodge & Spa has evolved over the years from a simple and scenic city escape and conference destination to a luxe country destination offering a superb location complemented by an award-winning spa.
“Our established lady (the lodge) was never a fine dining destination, which needed attention; whilst our Executive Chef Wayne Walkinshaw claims not to be a fine-dining chef, our regular and new patrons attest to our cuisine now being delicious and being presented in the way it should be done at a fine country establishment such as this.
“Part of my long-term plans for the lodge has always included it becoming known for delectable dining and I’m happy to see our team now taking pride in our food and beverage services, while guests are sending us most encouraging post-visit reports,” says general manager Laurence McGrath.
Laurence recently appointed an operational manager, which coincides with the new wine list as well as the upgrading of operational equipment throughout the hotel, including the ever-popular buffet facilities.
Recent awards for the lodge include recognition for the superb Valley Lodge Spa, which is now highly recommended by guests reporting their delight on TripAdvisor.
The lodge recently received four Platinum, one Gold Award as well as a Floating Trophy in the 8th West Rand Tourism Awards on 29 June 2015.
“Our team’s goal is to work at ever-increasing our service levels and facilities in this historical and beautiful region. These awards serve as further inspiration for us to exceed our guests’ expectations,” Laurence concludes.
