The Annual South African Guest Relations/Concierge Conferences will take place on Wednesday 2 September at Moyo uShaka in Durban, Wednesday 9 September at Moyo Kirstenbosch in Cape Town and Wednesday 16 September at Moyo Zoo Lake in Johannesburg.
Moyo restaurants and SA Tourism will be the main sponsors for this year’s conferences. The decision to be hosting the Conferences in other major cities follows the success of the past five conferences hosted in Johannesburg.
The Joburg Concierge Forum was established in 2010 for both guest relations managers and concierges from 4-star and 5-star hotels in Johannesburg and surrounding areas to share ideas, keep up to date with the latest industry trends and discover the attractions and activities in and around Johannesburg that can assist them in creating the unforgettable experiences guests expect.
The initial dream to go nationwide will finally be realised this year. The movement is still getting more support on a daily basis and has been self sustained since the inception and no financial motives have ever been involved.
Deon Prinsloo, head concierge and Les Clef d’Or member for the Palazzo Hotel Montecasino in Fourways remains passionate and enthusiastic, ready to explore and include all 4 and 5 star hotels and guest houses from around South Africa in September. It has been such successes in Johannesburg that enquiries have resulted from other parts of South Africa hence the step to expand the movement for concierges and guest relations managers.
The past 5 conferences hosted in Johannesburg has been initiated, set up and hosted by Deon Prinsloo, head concierge/guest relations manager at The Palazzo Montecasino, with the aim to create an opportunity for South African guest relations managers and concierges to raise the bar of excellence. He has been the driving force behind the conferences and regular meetings over the past six years and he is looking forward to an exciting future for concierges in SA’s top hotels.
“The annual Concierge Conference serves to create an awareness of the value of Concierge services offered by hotels to ensure guests enjoy an unforgettable experience,” notes Prinsloo.
“The Concierge is a direct link between guests and service providers, providing exposure for the many products and services available around the country, whilst enhancing the guest experience. As such, the conference also provides an opportunity for some of these providers to exhibit their offerings of interest to guests staying at hotels in and around Johannesburg and to briefly introduce their activities to the attendees.”
