A new state of the art irrigation system installation is set to take Arabella Golf Club to new heights. R10million is to be invested into the installation of this system by the proud owners of the Arabella Golf Course, Hospitality Property Fund (HPF).

The Arabella Hotel & Spa is managed by African Pride Hotels. The Group Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, welcomed the investment that will in the long term ensure that the challenging and scenic Championship course remains one of the finest in Africa.
HPF’s Deputy CEO Andrew Rogers says Kleinmond’s Arabella Hotel & Spa is a 5-star destination in itself, but what makes it famous the world over is the Peter Matkovich designed Championship Course. “We’re working hard to make a golfing work of art even better, which requires investing in the most modern technology.”

The long term benefits to the course quality, to the golfer and to the environment, far out way any short term disruption. Couple the long term benefit with a professional installation team and project manager; and it soon becomes evident that the owners have made the correct choice. An irrigation system is the heart of any golf course and whilst it is not always visible it plays an essential part in maintaining the correct conditions for turf grass to flourish. As part of its business ethos, Arabella Golf Club always strives to stay abreast of cutting edge technology and with rapid advancements made in this area it was seen as essential that Arabella Golf Club adapt.

The installation of the new wall to wall computerized Rainbird system will commence on 1 June 2013. Those golfers who were looking forward to playing Arabella through the winter period will still be able to do so with minimal disruption as only 3 holes will be worked on at any given time. The course will still be maintained to the highest world class standard that it has become synonymous with.

The benefits of such an installation are endless as individual sprinkler head control ensures better course condition, water conservation, energy conservation, prevention of soil erosion, increase in ground water supply and the minimizing of pesticide and fungicide presence in ground water being some of the more prolific spin offs.

A bright future lies ahead for the Arabella Country Estate in general as the irrigation system is just one cog in the wheel of a flourishing development.
