Passengers flying on board a FlySafair flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town had the unfortunate experience of a sudden cabin depressurisation.
The budget airline had to turn back while on its way to Cape Town after taking off from Johannesburg this morning.A passenger says it was a frightening experience.“All of a sudden the oxygen masks came down automatically and nobody knew what to do about it, then we were told to put it on because we were losing air pressure rapidly.”
The airline says the aircraft experienced cabin depressurisation, but all safety precautions were immediately implemented. There were more than 100 passengers on board. FlySafair’s Kirby Gordon says the incident will be investigated.
“We can report that there were absolutely no injuries and there were 110 people aboard the aircraft. The aircraft went for its last full check on 25 November 2015. It was deemed to be absolutely 100 percent operational. Ongoing maintenance is continually conducted on the aircraft as well.”
