My Destination (www.mydestination.com), the global travel resource powered by a community of local experts, has unleashed travels Biggest, Baddest, Bucket List Competition and offer one lucky person the opportunity of a lifetime a six month, all inclusive, blogging trip around the world to a minimum of 25 international destinations and $50,000 (approx. R450, 000). The dream job contest has been created in partnership with fellow travel brands Hotels.com, Travelex and Viator. The opportunity opened for applications from the 28th January and closes on 31st March 2013. Ben Southall, winner of Tourism Queenslands Best Job in the World, will preside over the entrants as guest judge.

About the blogging trip of a lifetime: Six months in which to travel the world, all expenses paid, blogging, meeting the locals and taking part in challenges in each location. The challenges will be wide and varied, covering everything from visiting a landmark to tasting a local delicacy and staying with a family to an adrenaline pumping activity. The best part is that the winner gets to create their own six month itinerary. You will blog for My Destination throughout the trip, keeping the people back home and around the world up to date with your adventures and the new friends you have made along the way.

About the prize money: Upon completion of all the challenges and the blogging tasks throughout the six month trip, a pot of gold will be waiting for you on your return: $50,000 (approx. R450, 000) for the winner to spend on anything they want paying off that student loan, starting a business or buying a home it really is a life changing amount of money!

1. Step one: Applicants must create a video application in English and up to three minutes in length, telling us why, in our case, Johannesburg is their favourite destination this video should be fun and funky rather than formal and fancy, and you may even take your video with an iPad or similar, or a smart phone! For ideas on what to shoot for your video, go to My Destination Johannesburg (www.mydestination.com/johannesburg), where youll find great content, videos and virtual tours of everything of interest to tourists in and around Joburg.

2. Step two: Upload your video together with a completed application form and travel blog-style entry to www.mydestination.com/bbb.

The Judging: Ten candidates will make it through to the voting shortlist, five chosen by the My Destination judges, and five selected by popular vote from around the world. However, it’s not all up to the My Destination.com judges! Five finalists spots are given to those entries that the general public like and support the most. So, once you’ve got your entry in, you can always try for one of those guaranteed final spots by getting support from the Johannesburg public! Get people to like it on Facebook, Tweet it, Google +1 it, Stumble it, and pin it on Pinterest, the more the better! Have a look at our fun video below for some ideas to get you started!

The public around the world will finally vote for their favourite video in the Top 10 so lets get a Johannesburg video in there. Imagine the publicity for Johannesburg as an international tourist destination if it is one of the Top 10 videos or even the actual winning video!! And we can do it!

Even if we are not one of the final videos, we can entice the winner to visit Joburg by offering him/her a unique itinerary should he decide to stop over here.
