MICE industry takes stock with scorecards | The Planner

We all need to take stock as to where we are – at a given time – and where we want to be in the next six months.

The first three months of 2013 have witnessed short, sharp information sessions on a variety of topics for all sectors of the MICE industry with meaningful certificates being issued to participants.

With a quarter of the year behind us – the industry has taken stock and score cards have been issued to the almost 100 participants that have attended Focus Groups since the beginning of the year.

The score cards provide not only the total amount of credits to date but also the domain and sub-sections in accordance with the core competences for each subject undertaken. The domains are aligned to both several international status attainment programmes and more importantly the National Qualification Framework as registered via the Services and CATH Setas.

‘This is important’ commented an Academy spokesperson ‘as the industry is rapidly heading towards a South African status attainment acronym – in keeping with South African rules, regulations and manner of operating.’

Scoring of credit points is determined by two types of certificates: (1) compliance scores 4 credits in which the participants need to partake in a Q&A test and score a minimum of two thirds correctly (2) attendance scores 3 credits in which the participants have signed-in and out yet the test score was below the minimum required.

Awarded certificates are inserted into provided plastic sleeves which forms the major part of the branded Academy’s Professional Profile Portfolio ring-binder for all industry individuals to show their CPD (Continuing Professional Development) achievements to date.

MICE Academy members score an additional 2 credit points for updating their MICE Specification Guide (MSG) from on-line information supplied to members on a regular basis.
