The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) celebrates its tenth birthday on 28 June 2013 and a fitting celebration to pay homage to one of Cape Town’s iconic landmarks, is being planned.
In just 10 short years, the CTICC has succeeded in its mandate to sustain jobs, build businesses, enhance lives and, ultimately, empower people and communities. “We are celebrating a decade of transforming lives through hosting exceptional experiences,” explains Rashid Toefy, CTICC CEO. The success of the centre would not have been possible without the support of the people of Cape Town and we will be hosting a series of events geared at celebrating Cape Town’s success”, he adds.
The festivities kick off on Friday, 28 June with an exclusive stakeholder event, which will see local and international guests converge in Cape Town to commemorate all the key role-players that have contributed to the centre’s success over the last decade.
On Saturday, 29 June, the centre will be hosting an Open Day to showcase the facilities and the service offerings to the public. On the day, complimentary meeting rooms will be available, which can be utilised by community based organisations, subject to terms and conditions. The first organisations to email CTICC Business Development Manager: National, Adele de Wet on adele@cticc.co.za and successfully motivate why they should be one of the lucky recipients, stand a chance to host their meeting at the centre. The Open Day will take place from 09h00 – 13h00.
As a convention centre committed to uplifting and empowering the communities in which it operates, the CTICC will be partnering with its four community partners, who will be showcasing their work during the Open Day. Abalimi Bezekhaya, one of our partners will be selling their produce to the public. Any produce not sold by the end of the day, will be used by our chefs to cook a meal for the Haven Night Shelter, another one of the centre’s community partners,” explains Toefy.
At 20h00 that evening, a special celebration event will kick off with an exclusive performance by international music sensation, Mi Casa. The three-piece dance act has been met with huge local and international acclaim and is set to top the charts when their debut album is released this winter. Joining Mi Casa will be renowned local deejays Vernon Carver and Andy Carr, who will spin the decks.
Tickets to this VIP party with Mi Casa and friends are available from Computicket at R180 each. Tickets are inclusive of secure parking, canapés and a welcome drink. Limited tickets on sale, so book early to avoid disappointment.
