The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) today announced that it will be postponing its 10th birthday celebration concert with Mi Casa and Friends, which was scheduled to take place this Saturday, 29 June 2013.
According to CTICC Chief Executive Officer, Rashid Toefy, the centre took the decision to postpone this event in light of the current circumstances relating to the health and wellbeing of the โFather of the Nationโ, Nelson Mandela. โWith the whole world holding Mandela in their prayers, a collaborative decision with all the relevant role-players in the City and Province was taken to postpone this event to a more appropriate time suited to the occasion of celebrating this significant milestone in the centreโs historyโ , adds Toefy.
โWe are sorry that we have to disappoint the many Mi Casa fans and CTICC supporters at this time, who were looking forward to this event. As the worldโs focus shifts to South Africa in this difficult period, we feel that this is the right decision to takeโ, says Toefy. Computicket will be offering a full refund on all tickets purchased and the date of the new event will be announced in the next few months.
The centre will continue to operate business as usual and the CTICCโs Open Day on the 29 June 2013 will still take place. The Open Day is an ideal opportunity for the public to view the meetings and events facilities at the centre and gain deeper insight into what it takes to pull off a world class eventโ, adds Toefy. The CTICC is a multipurpose facility that while primarily designed for conferences and exhibitions, lends itself to a diverse array of events. On the day visitors will get an opportunity to see the flexibility and versatility of the venue and experience the centreโs service offerings first hand. A series of exciting activities are planned, which includes site tours of the various venues, speciality venue setups and an opportunity to sample the centreโs cuisine offerings. In addition the centreโs service providers, who offer an array of services ranging from decor, audio visual and Information Technology to stand building solutions, will also be showcasing the latest technology and trends in the meetings and events industry.
โRunning alongside the Open Day will be the Reversing the Legacy Expo, which has been extended till Saturday, 29 June. This event in conjunction with the Open Day is a fitting tribute to the diverse history and legacy of South Africa and Cape Townโ, concludes Toefy.
