What has the Coca-cola dome been up to | The Planner

This past year has allowed the Coca-Cola dome to once again showcase some of the most exciting events in Johannesburg. The Coca-Cola dome is clearly a truly exceptional entertainment arena, close to the N1 highway and only 20 km from Sandton, its convenient location makes for easy access.

Looking back over the past few months of 2013, Warren Green, Commercial Manager of the Coca-Cola dome is particularly proud of the many successful events recently hosted, “This sends a very clear message about us being able to deliver high quality, special events that are unique and ensure increasing visitor numbers. Our commitment to the organisers, sponsors and exhibitors of each event is always: whatever you need, we’ll cover it.”

The Coca-Cola dome recently hosted the African debut of the world’s leading dance event, Sensation ‘Innerspace’ as it was the only venue capable of accommodating this type of show. The success of this event proved that South Africa certainly knows how to party! Those dance enthusiasts who experienced the Sensation phenomenon have already started the count down for next year.

The Good Food & Wine show in September allowed the foodies free rein to indulge themselves. Whilst Pet lovers enjoyed the The World Agility Championships which was hosted for the first time in South Africa, the Pet&Me Expo which ran alongside this event was a huge success and a new Guinness World Record was set for the largest tonnage of pet food collected – 15 tonnes! This is the third time the Coca-Cola dome has been featured as the venue where a Guinness record has been broken and we are so proud to have been part of these events. The visitor numbers for rAGE vastly exceeded expectations, we had over 2,000 enthusiastic gamers playing on-line for 52 hours. “We were thrilled to ensure that Jo’burgers got to share these experiences at the Coca-Cola dome,” explains Green, “these distinctive events are what ensures our reputation as a venue remains unchallenged.”

What’s left of the year remains a busy time for all at the Coca-Cola dome as it includes the Photo and Film Expo, as well as the MamaMagic – The Baby Expo.   “The Coca-Cola dome is excited to be the venue for the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge Expo”, says Green “particularly because the event this year will include Darryl Impey, our own yellow jersey wearer from the Tour de France.” Hosting the event at the Coca-Cola dome, will not only accommodate the large number of people expected, but also ensure easy and quick access for participants to collect their race packs.

The Coca-Cola dome will be rocking December 2013, by firstly staging one of the most highly anticipated rock acts for this year, the Dave Matthews Band on 3 December.  Nickelback, the Canadian rock band will be strutting their stuff on 6 and 8 December, and the Grammy award winning soul singer Maxwell will entertain for one night on 7 December.  Our ability to host these events back to back once again showcases the Coca-Cola dome as a venue of choice!

This is just some of the exciting entertainment lined up for the remainder of 2013, visit www.coca-coladome.co.za for more information.
