The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) hosted its unique client cook off challenge last month, where some of the centre’s key event clients and ambassadors were given the opportunity to explore their inner “Master Chef”.

CTICC General Manager for Commercial and Business Development, Megan Arendse said that the aim of this initiative was to showcase the centre’s world class catering facilities, whilst simultaneously providing clients with a memorable experience. “The CTICC boasts one of the largest and most advanced kitchens in South Africa and clients rarely have a chance to venture into this territory. The cook – off challenge was an ideal opportunity for our clients to experience our world class facilities first – hand”, added Arendse.

Ten “contestants” joined the Chief Executive Officer, Rashid Toefy, General Manager for Commercial and Business Development, Megan Arendse and General Manager for Operations, Aage Hansen in the centre’s kitchens. Each group under the expert guidance of the centre’s chefs were tasked with crafting a meal within 60 minutes.

The cook- cff gave clients not only the opportunity to meet and work alongside the CTICC’s chefs, led by Executive Chef, Warwick Thomas, but also the opportunity to cook in the centre’s specialised industrial kitchens.

The event saw the enthusiastic ‘chefs’ cook a three-course-meal, consisting of a tantalising starter, a delicious main and a delightful dessert. Once they earned their stripes in the kitchen the participants were treated to a scrumptious Chef’s Table luncheon.

“As part of the centre’s commitment to driving the ”experience economy” the CTICC will continue to explore innovative ways of engaging with its clients to create memorable event experiences”,  concluded Arendse.
