He was promoted to Head Field Guide in 2011 and to Reserve Manager in February 2014. In his new role Boshoff is in charge of the Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve, stretching over 7500 hectares. His many duties include game management, fencing, road maintenance and alien clearing, and he oversees the reserve’s vital firefighting systems and conservation projects.
Gerhard Thom (27), Head Field Guide
Gerhard has been appointed Head Field Guide at Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat. Thom studied at The Nature College in the Aardvark Nature Reserve and gained work experience at the Kalahari Trails Nature Reserve and at Quo Vadis Tours before joining Bushmans Kloof as a Field Guide in 2010. Following Regardt Boshoff’s promotion to Reserve Manager, Thom was promoted to Head Field Guide in February 2014. He still takes guests on nature drives and Rock Art excursions, but now also oversees the management of the field guide team and the reserve, working closely with Boshoff in the process.
