In a salute to valued guests, and in the spirit of providing the finest in Indian cuisine in Durban, the Suncoast Towers hotelโ€™s Jeera restaurant recently released a revamped menu.

True to its promise of serving the finest Indian cuisine in the city, the latest offering includes an array of dishes as perfect for a quick, informal lunch as they are for a more formal and intimate dinner experience.

Jeeraโ€™s colourful menu allows guests to explore a flavourful array of delectable authentic Indian dishes from all corners of India. The restaurantโ€™s name reflects the bespoke dishes distinctive flavour and aroma; and a sophisticated and appealing approach to food. The skilful cooking style, complimented by the chefโ€™s signature freshly ground blend of spices and sauces, gives each dish its own distinct regional influence and flavour.

While Executive Sous Chef Sandren Govender insists that he, โ€œhasnโ€™t redesigned the wheelโ€, itโ€™s fair to say that the handful of unique and personally inspired options that have joined the tried-and-tested a-la-carte offering is nothing short of inventive.

Among the delights on offer is the whimsical Millionaireโ€™s curry – a luxurious feast of crayfish, prawns, scallops and line fish that is bound to take your taste buds on a delectable spice journey. This dish is by far the โ€œcrรจme-de-la-crรจmeโ€ offering on the menu and has been custom-made for those who fancy a bit of opulence on their plate.

Chefโ€™s gourmet bunny-chow looks to pull in hordes of hungry patrons with a mouth-watering variety of butter chicken, lamb curry and prawn curry filling in one plate. Guests now have the privilege of sampling all three vibrant flavours in specially baked petite bread cases.

โ€œDurban is the home to the bunny chow. We on the other hand have decided to re-invent this popular dish by adding a five star touch to it. We have created a gourmet experience by serving this dish with premium curries served in custom made bread,โ€ explains Govender.

Lastly, in a final effort to spruce up the dining repertoire Jeera prides itself on using fresh hand ground spices in all dishes as well as sources prime cuts of meat and poultry and premium selection of fish and shellfish.
