Organic. Glass. Funky lighting. And of course lots of mirrors.
Those are the descriptors being used by the designers of Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town, where work is already underway on a full evolution of the downstairs public spaces.
The chic, urban reinvention encompasses the reception area, bar, lounge, restaurant, Coughin’ Room, Bree Street deck, New Church Street deck and lift lobby.
Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing &Revenue for Protea Hotels, says the design is sleek and fits the new, modern Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! concept like Pharell Williams’ Grammys hat.
“We’re blown away by the new design. It makes a statement. We’re doing incredibly exciting things with glass and lighting that will make it feel like an entirely different space depending on what time of day you walk into the hotel.
“It’s difficult not to say too much right now because we’re so amped, but there’s no doubt that it’s going to be the hottest place to hang in Cape Town when the hotel’s public spaces are revealed on September 1.”
Even the iconic and much talked about unisex public restrooms are being given an entirely new, sleek look and the hotel is adding such a sexy private dining component that everyone who’s anyone will want to reserve – if only to be seen hanging out there!
“The Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! concept has always excited the eye and the mind and this evolution is no different. It’s going to take cool to a whole new level,” says Bryer.
The hotel remains open for business during the renovation.
Bryer says there is some noise, but it is limited to weekday working hours so as not to disturb guests.
