Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town has been appointed Janneman Britz as its new general manager.
Britz recently won a Juiced! award at the Protea Hotels Annual GMs conference. This award is handed out to the GM who is “filled with power, vitality, commitment, energy, really turned on and fired up, unstoppable and irresistible” – which describes Britz to a tee!
“Janneman is the Mac Daddy of Cape Town hospitality and he’s got that extra spice; that indefinable quality you need if you’re going to head up a Protea Hotel Fire & Ice!” says Mark Satterfield, SA Business Leader of Marriott International.
“His enthusiasm, quick wit and passion for the best guest service make Janneman the right individual to lead the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! team and we know he’s going to take an already brilliant concept hotel to a whole new level.”
Britz says he’s never been more excited about a job than he is about this one.
“Not even the awesome experience of working overseas can top how I feel about taking over this amazing hotel. It’s the hottest job in Cape Town and coolest hotel in the city.

Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town’s new Big Kahuna takes over in the coming months, when current GM Johan Cronje relocates to Gauteng to launch the latest Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! in Menlyn, which is set to ignite Pretoria’s social scene from early next year.
Says Satterfield: “Not only does Janneman have hospitality experience across three countries, but he’s exactly the right fit for such a dynamic, evolving brand that we’d like to see expand beyond Africa in years to come.”
