There are over 3500 meeting facilities in South Africa with and without accommodation. In Gauteng alone there are over 2000. Competition is fierce and with the sluggish economy aided by the winter of our discontent – meeting venues need to get a serious wake-up call on how to effectively undertake site inspections.
Statistics indicate that the amount of venues with real capacity of over 1000 taking account of pre-assembly and banquet facilities are in the vast minority and in high demand due to limited supply. When one starts dabbling below 500 – the extent of MICE venues is competitive. With under 200 capacity – the competition is indeed fierce.
Site inspections can make or break the bottom-line of the bookings schedule. Site inspections of a meetings venue are expensive to undertake yet when undertaken in a well-planned and focused manner can be rewarding and certainly has a positive result on the bottom-line.
Cardinal Leisure – after many years of site inspections – some good, most questionable – have secured the MICE Academy’s services to undertake a hard-hitting presentation on how to undertake site inspections. Commented Cardinal’s Viviene Kloeck ‘The amount of time that can be wasted when inspecting a site is frustrating and indeed non-productive. Cardinal Leisure have taken the initiative with the assistance of the MICE Academy in order to ensure the many excellent meeting venues get it right the first time and every time thereafter’.
In tandem with this well-timed Site Inspection topic – the Academy is launching their CPD Breakfast Briefings for industry individuals who wish to go more in-depth with ‘how to’ solutions that have an exceptional high take-back-to-the-office value.
Venue management should book early for the first Breakfast Briefing initiated by Cardinal Leisure on Site Inspections taking place on Friday 8 August at Hackle Brooke Conference Centre in Johannesburg.
Breakfast briefings are available in all major centres on request.
