Hilton Hotels & Resorts has been awarded the prestigious title of Best International Hotel Group at the third annual Business Traveller Africa Awards held in Sandton, Johannesburg in September.
โReceiving this award is such an honour as it confirms the depth of our contribution in the hospitality industry in South Africa and the continent. Our multi-pronged approach to hospitality globally with such focal points as talent development and community engagement has continued to bolster the brand as the number one international hotel brand in South Africa and a force to be reckoned. We are very proud of this achievement,โ said Jan van der Putten, Vice President, Operations: Africa and Indian Ocean.
The awards acknowledge brands and entities that have performed exceptionally well in the business travel landscape in South Africa. This yearโs awards featured a number of new categories including the โBest International Hotel Groupโ category which was won by Hilton Hotel & Resorts. Hilton Worldwide entered the African market in 1959 and now operates a number of properties in the Africa and Indian Ocean region across three brands: Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Double Tree by Hilton and Conrad Hotel & Resorts. The brand entered the region over 50 years ago and growth has been by leaps and bounds, establishing operations in a number of key markets in Africa including South Africa, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania.
Plans to expand the brandโs footprint in the continent are underway with the aim to continue investing in the continent and grow with it.
