The 2014 EXSA Industry Awards were held in Johannesburg last week and Thebe Reed Venue Management walked away with a hat trick of awards.
The Coca-Cola dome, managed by Thebe Reed , was up against all the renowned venues and major international convention centres in South Africa and triumphed as winners of the best venue award.
100% Design SA walked away with the best trade and consumer exhibition under 6 000m² award and Decorex Cape Town also received the best trade and consumer exhibition over 6 000m² award. Carol Weaving, Managing Director of Thebe Reed Exhibitions says the group is honoured to be recognised by its peers in the exhibition industry. “The EXSA awards truly represent a professional opinion of the work done by nominees.”
In 2004 the former Thebe Venue Management was brought on board by the owners of the under-utilised Dome in Northgate, the Sasol Pension Fund, to turn the venue around. Since then it has had its busiest and most successful years since opening its doors in 1998 and the management contract has been renewed until 2019.
The Coca-Cola dome has also been voted Johannesburg’s best concert venue for over a decade and has won numerous other awards.
According to Weaving the Coca-Cola dome is one of South Africa’s most versatile exhibition and special event venues. “I believe this is one of the major reasons for its popularity. Adding to this, the venue has an excellent management team and I congratulate them on their continued success. Their sustained hard work and world-class client service is paying dividends.”
EXSA is a non-profit organisation representing venues, organisers, exhibition designers, stand builders, service companies and associate organisations. EXSA, via collective representation, provides a forum for all participants across the spectrum of the exhibition industry.
