Professional planner standards - Procurement industry to present | The Planner

It is said if an untruth is repeated many times over it becomes a fact, which us mere mortals do not question. In the same vein – the MICE industry could be under the assumption that the planning fraternity – whether salaried or fee-earning – make the final decision regarding suppliers and services.

Following lengthy discussions by the Academy with the procurement fraternity – it may be time for the MICE industry to get a wake up call and think again.

The roll-out of the Professional Planner Standards Trilogy as the 2015 theme of the 2nd Event Industry Summit initiated by Hackle Brooke has commenced.

In May phase 1 will explore procurement, proposals and payment structures. In July phase 2 will determine the outcomes of phase 1 and in September phase 3 will confirm the expert inputs together with the MICE industry’s agreements for the first Professional Planner Standards.

Our procurement colleagues have come forward displaying serious intentions of assisting the MICE industry with the Professional Planner Standards – to the extent that the accredited procurement industry may recognise the Professional Planners who adhere to the Standards agreed upon via the 2015 Trilogy.

To be a part of the process:
(1) Diarise the Phase 1 dates – 8th, 15th & 22nd May
(2) Complete and submit details on the MICE website to be kept immediately updated as participation is limited.
