Vera Jackson of the renowned InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport Hotel has been honoured with Les Clefs d’Or (Golden Keys) from the Society of the Golden Keys of Great Britain and the Commonwealth. Vera is one in only four South African women to receive this prestigious accreditation.
The Society of the Golden Keys was formed in Great Britain in 1952. The Golden Keys are symbols that recognise quality service and are worn only by those few who go beyond the call of duty. With strict conditions of membership, requiring proof of professional relationships with guests and work colleagues, Tsogo Sun is delighted that 5 of the 8 active members in South Africa provides value to their guests every day.
“With an increasing emphasis on service delivery we are very proud that Vera, who is also celebrating her 10th anniversary at Tsogo Sun this month, has been honoured for her perseverance, passion and clear understanding of service excellence,” says Andrew Davidson, general manager of Tsogo Sun’s InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport Hotel.
Vera started her career at Tsogo Sun as a hotel school intern and spent a year as a customer services agent at a small airline. She returned to the InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport hotel as a sales, conference and banqueting coordinator and quickly progressed to head concierge. As one of the direct links with guests, the concierge largely carries the responsibility of the reputation of the hotel and, as such, it is vital that they provide professional service with integrity, coupled with local knowledge and impeccable recommendations.
