Sun International’s Wild Coast Sun has been ranked top in the Best Coastal Resort category and third in the Best Casino category in The Daily News’ 2015 Your Choice Awards. The awards are presented based on votes received from the public.
“The fact that these awards are based on the public’s perception and votes is significant for us. After all, it is our customers and guests who are the lifeblood of our business.
“These awards show that our resort is still one of the preferred weekend getaway destinations in South Africa. Certainly, the Wild Coast Sun has become a sought-after destination for international tourists, but it is the loyalty of our local customers, who visit us time and again, that is the cornerstone of our success,” says Sandi Burger, PR and promotions manager at the Wild Coast Sun.
Set on 750 hectares of natural bush on one of South Africa’s most pristine, unspoiled beaches, the Wild Coast Sun offers luxurious accommodation overlooking the warm Indian Ocean and a diverse entertainment offering. The resort has a selection of restaurants and bars, outdoor and sporting activities, a world class 18-hole golf course, a vibrant casino, Mangwanani Spa, ample facilities and activities for children, and the Wild Waves Water Park.
The Water Park features some of the world’s best rides imported from White Water West in Canada, offering the latest water ride attractions guaranteed to thrill those seeking adventure and fun. Rides include the Boomeranga, Aqua Loop and Superbowl, the lazy river and a special children’s interactive water play area.
The Wild Coast Sun’s land-based sports are mostly centred at the Sports Centre which is located close to the main hotel and include a gymnasium, lawn bowls, squash and tennis. There is also the vast natural playground on the Umtamvuna River and different water-based activities are catered for at Waterworld. There, visitors can try your hand at water-skiing, jet-skiing, paddle-boating and canoeing. There is also a double-decker river boat ideal for sundowners.
For those keen to explore the natural surroundings, the Heritage Beach Walk to the Petrified Forest is an educational adventure that takes explorers back in time as far as 85 million years ago. There is plenty to discover on the guided walks including fossils of ammonites, giant sea clams, turtles, petrified trees and caves, lined with fossil shells of marine creatures that existed millions of years ago.
Children’s entertainment is in the Aloha Village where there is a Magic Company and Cosmic bowling amongst other attractions.
The exquisite Mangwanani Wild Coast Boutique Spa located near the hotel has an enticing menu of rejuvenating treatments. Spacious and beautifully appointed, the spa boasts a variety of treatment rooms, pedicure stations, showers, saunas and much more.
