Fastjet will launch daily flights to Zanzibar from both Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam on January 11 2016 . This in response to strong passenger and tour operator demand from the South African market.
The route will be operated using an Airbus A319 aircraft.with flights from Johannesburg to will make a stop in Dar es Salaam. The flight from Johannesburg will make a 30 minute stop in Dar es Salaam, although passengers will not need to disembark.
From January 11 to March 20, the Dar es Salaam–Zanzibar service will operate once a day on Mondays and Fridays, and twice a day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Johannesburg–Zanzibar flight will operate once daily. From March 21 to June 26 the Dar es Salaam–Zanzibar service will operate twice daily while the Johannesburg–Zanzibar will continue to fly once daily.
Flights will depart Zanzibar at 09h30 and land in Johannesburg at 13h20, with the return flight from Johannesburg departing at 14h10 and landing in Zanzibar at 19h40.One way fares from Johannesburg are starting at R 1 704 and fares from Zanzibar starting at R 1 860, the return flight from Johannesburg starts at R 3 564. Fares include airport and government taxes.
