Chef Patrick Ndukuya joins Southern Sun Pretoria | The Planner

Patrick Ndukuya, the celebrated Executive Chef at Southern Sun Pretoria, was born and bred in South Africa.  Starting out as a mere Kitchen Supervisor, Patrick amassed endless accolades throughout his 30-year career in the hospitality industry, continuously achieving more success and fame as an Executive Chef.

Patrick started his career in the kitchen of the then Transvaalse Suiker Kooperasie Beperk in Malelane, Mpumalanga.  After six years of refining his skills, Patrick joined the Malelane Sun InterContinental hotel as the Executive Sous Chef, and then moved to Tsogo Sun as Executive Chef at the Southern Sun Emnotweni hotel.  The next two decades saw Patrick in various Executive Chef positions in Mpumalanga and Pretoria, where he continuously delighted Tsogo Sun guests with his extraordinary culinary flair. After a two-year stint at Tsogo Sun’s Emnotweni Casino and Entertainment Centre, he rejoined Southern Sun Pretoria earlier this year, where he dazzles politicians, diplomats, embassy officials and business gurus who frequent Southern Sun Pretoria due to its proximity to local embassies, government offices and the CBD of South Africa’s administrative capital.

Notwithstanding his excellent career, Patrick had the honour of being the private chef of arguably the most famous, and loved, South African – former President Nelson Mandela. His prowess in the kitchen took him to various countries such as Aman, London, Maputo, Kenya and Switzerland where he catered for South African celebrations and the World Economic Forum. Patrick was also selected as Kaizer Chief’s chef during the South Korea Soccer World Cup in 2003.

Dining at the Southern Sun Pretoria’s Oasis Restaurant brings you a world of flavours and tastes in a stylish setting. Guests seeking a relaxing environment for a business meeting, intimate meal or a family lunch can enjoy Patrick’s version of global cuisine – where traditional favourites are presented alongside contemporary menu choices to satisfy every taste.

Patrick’s passion shows in his life philosophy – to have as many people in the world enjoy his home-grown recipes. Besides holding a string of awards for his achievements, Patrick is a proud member of Les Disciples d’Auguste Escoffier, the respected worldwide chefs organisation that recognises chefs who reached a pinnacle in their profession.
