Tsogo Sun’s Operations Director for the Cape Region – John van Rooyen, Clive Van Groeningen – Mykonos Casino Director of Operations and Complex GM, and Jerry Mokgalapa – Tsogo Sun Sales Manager handed over a R380 000 cheque to Western Province Rugby Football Union President Mr Thelo Wakefield during Saturday’s match between the DHL Stormers and Toyota Cheethas at DHL Newlands.
This contribution will provide bursaries for three promising young players – Ashwyn Adams, Tristan Leyds and Tumi Mogoje – to develop their rugby skills at the Western Province Rugby Institute (WPRI) for 2016.
Tsogo Sun’s relationship as the Official Hotel and Gaming Partner to the Western Province Rugby Union and Club Newlands was extended earlier this year, thereby further strengthening the relationship between Tsogo Sun and Western Province. The partnership extents to include two properties from Tsogo Sun’s gaming arm in the Cape: The Caledon Casino, Hotel and Spa in the Overberg Region and Mykonos Casino on the Cape West Coast, who both work closely with the Western Province Rugby Institute in the development of young local rugby players in their areas.
Comments van Rooyen, ““As part of our ongoing investment in sport at all levels, we are proud to hand over this cheque to Western Province Rugby to be used for youth and player development this year. We try, where possible, to do our bit and help make a real, sustainable difference in the lives of the people in the communities in which we operate”.
As one of the South African Rugby Union’s longest standing sponsors, Tsogo Sun’s commitment to investing in and developing South African rugby extends from grassroots level right up to the National Springbok Team.
“This investment by Tsogo Sun and Mykonos Casino will be used to enhance Western Province Rugby’s future through 3 bursaries given to the Western Province Rugby Institute for 2016”, said Mr Wakefield.
