Decorate your wedding venue on a budget – part 1 | The Planner

Part 1 of 2.

Whether your national monument wedding venue maybe won’t let you bring in much, or you just want to keep the décor to a minimum as the budget is tight and you hate wastage, we have some totally manageable ideas to turn your reception space into a celebration that’s all you…

  1. Drape The Ceiling – It’s amazing what a little bit of fabric does. Keep it formal and elegant with white fabric, or if you’re more in to a funky vibe – opt for a bright, colour scheme complimentary like pink or orange.

2. Patterned Cushions – If you have, or you can also create one, a lounge area at your venue, get to a homeware store and get your hands on some colourful cushions. Get the inners on sale and make your own covers with fabric that matches your colour scheme.

3. Suspend the Flowers – Flowers don’t only belong on tables – get creative and suspend lush floral arrangements from a high ceiling. Not only it it different, but also creates a more intimate atmosphere in barn like building. Hate the venues carpet? This will certainly keep people looking upwards.

4. Chalkboard Signs – Liven up your outdoor wedding or the reception doorway with a beautifully hand written chalk board. Place the drinks menu on the bar, or take on old photo frame and spray paint to match your colour scheme. Drape with flowers and get chalking 🙂

5. Table Lamps – Get unique and place an elegant standing lamp on each table. Wrap the cords in greenery and lose the floral decorations all together. Voila.

6. Herbs and Flowers – Liven up the serviettes and replace your standard linen ring, with a bow and a fresh sprig of rosemary, or a beautiful local flower.

7. Coloured Glassware – Rent a range of coloured glassware in different sizes – your table decor will pop out immediately.
