At the very pinnacle of Sun International’s multi-million rand Time Square development, opening to the public on 1 April 2017, is Altitude. An unexpected urban sanctuary on the rooftop, offering panoramic views of Menlyn and beyond, Altitude blends laid back champagne culture and vibrant entertainment in a most exquisite setting. Within this rooftop restaurant lies The Lobby Room, a space for private celebrations and supper clubs in Vegas-style fashion. The Lobby Room, which literally floats on water, offers the ultimate VVIP experience.

Beautifully appointed with a definitive air of sophistication, the rooftop champagne garden spans 1400 square metres. The menu, described by Michael as a fusion of Afro and Asian cuisine, offers a diversity of tantalizing African and Asian inspired dishes and sharing platters. Altitude will offer regular live entertainment by DJs and bands as well as themed events like Sushi Samba on Sundays, combining glorious sunsets, sushi, champagne and music to close off the week with flair. According to Michael, Altitude features two large fireplaces to warm winter afternoons on the rooftop.
Altitude is the brainchild of Michael who paid his school fees in kitchens like The Baron Group and Chefs in Motion, and owned and operated the successful Rhapsody’s and MyGrillMyBar franchises. After a sabbatical in the advertising industry, he returns to the hospitality industry with a very different set of goggles. Altitude is the product of his former award winning eateries, coupled with a strong focus on vibe and entertainment.
Altitude is one of 18 restaurants and upmarket bars, all unique in concept and character, that will be available to explore at Time Square. Comprising South Africa’s largest and most advanced casino, as well as an 8 500 seat arena to open in November this year and a five star hotel to open in March 2018, Time Square represents Sun International’s largest investment in a casino development in 15 years. With Tshwane’s first casino and second five-star hotel, Time Square also hails the start of a new era in entertainment and hospitality in Tshwane.
