“Stop smacking the snooze button. Climate disruption is here. You need to know what to do,” says sustainability facilitator, greening specialist and climate change leader Lorraine Jenks.
Having researched the impacts of climate change on events and tourism in Africa, Jenks is in a position to help you understand WHY climate change is having the effect it is, and also WHAT to do, WHEN to do it, and HOW to survive in the events industry. This invaluable knowledge is what she will share at the Event Greening Forum’s (EGF) 2019 Master Class, titled ‘Climate Change: A Tale of Two Futures’.
She says, “Based on research in Africa, I will share actual climate disruptions experienced by people on the ground, and offer solutions, preparedness, special training, adaptions and some of their tips for all aspects of the events industry. My presentation has no bewildering graphs and statistics but rather facts, solutions, advice and practical tips – factors attendees may not even have thought of – gleaned from those who have already been there.”
The aim is to empower attendees so that they leave feeling encouraged and in control of an uncertain future.

About the EGF
The EGF is a non-profit organisation that promotes sustainability within the business events sector. One of the ways it does this is by hosting educational sessions, such as its annual Master Class and Conference.
The Master Class is an opportunity for a sustainability expert to share their specialist knowledge in a way that is relevant and accessible to the events industry. In 2017 the EGF’s newly developed Sustainable Event Standards were unpacked, and in 2018 how to activate change in human behaviour was explored.
The Conference is a one day event on the day after the Master Class. It brings together a mix of industry experts to share knowledge, best practice case studies, trends and inspiration.
Who should attend
Both the Master Class and Conference are designed for those who work in the events industry, including the following roles: event suppliers and services; venues; event and exhibition organisers; transport; AV and production; marketing and communications; food and beverage; marketing; procurement and event managers in the corporate, association and public sectors; and convention bureaus.
