Jock Safari Lodge now offers riverbed dining | The Planner

Immerse yourself in the bus experience with Jock Safari Lodge’s latest dining option – a riverbed dinner experience. The riverbed provides clear views across the wilderness, giving guests a front row seat to watch any game passing by as twilight turns to night. Enjoy your sundowners as elephants wander to the river for a drink, and then settle into vintage-style canvas safari chairs or oversized Persian cushions for a traditional, barbeque-style feast.

On the menu are delicious and wholesome dishes, including a selection of fresh salads and a variety of meat off the grill. To finish off the feast, traditional South African desserts are served while sitting around a campfire.

Jock Safari Lodge is located in the south-western corner of the Kruger National Park, at the confluence of Mitomeni river (Shangaan for ‘Jackalberry Tree’) and Biyamiti river (Shangaan for ‘Place of many Trees’). It was the first private concession within South Africa’s largest and most famous national park, and is named after Sir Percy FitzPatrick’s popular book, Jock of the Bushveld. The private park covers 6,000 hectares, and guests are treated to an exclusive experience at the lodge, which accommodates a maximum of 30 people, while the adjacent family-friendly camp can accommodate six guests.
