The Event Greening Forum (EGF), a non-profit organisation that promotes sustainable event practices, is regretfully cancelling its 2020 Master Class and Conference. These events were scheduled to take place on the 08 and 09 July 2020 respectively, at the Vineyard Hotel in Cape Town.
The decision was made in light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, and the safety measures that the South African government subsequently put in place to protect the public from the disease. These measures include the prohibition of gatherings of more than 100 people.
“While it is hoped that we will quickly control the spread of COVID-19 in South Africa, and ‘flatten the curve’, the EGF recognises that our members’ businesses will be heavily impacted. We would like to give them time and space to regroup and rebuild, and hopefully comer back stronger,” says Greg McManus, the EGF Chairperson. “When they do, we will be ready to offer our support and services once again.”
The EGF will investigate holding a series of regional workshops instead of the Conference and Master Class, once the situation allows. Its annual Master Class and Conference will return in 2021.
