Help us protect those who help us | The Planner

A message from Darryl Erasmus, Chief Quality Assurance Officer at the Tourism Grading Council:

The past few months have tested us as a country. No one more than our frontline health workers. Because of this, Ubuntu Beds and RMB are collaborating with accommodation providers, and transport and catering suppliers – together with key private and public sector hospitals – to assist in the COVID-19 response.

“This philanthropic project aims to mobilise the use of Bed and Breakfasts, Guesthouses, and Hotels to accommodate healthcare workers in order to relieve their travel time and flatten the curve by avoiding contamination between them and their loved ones.”

The project’s pilot phase launches in the next few weeks and, as such, we are looking for pricing that is largely cost-based and can assist in supporting this initiative as well as sustain hospitality and transport-related jobs. Some properties have already offered rooms for free or at lower rates.

While this is not an initiative from The Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, and joining is an independent decision for each property, if you are able to participate, please click on the following link: ubuntuBeds.org and go to the ‘I am in Hospitality’ button to register your property.

You will not only be helping to flatten the curve but also helping to protect those protecting us.
