The Event Greening Forum (EGF) NPO was created to drive the adoption of sustainable practices within the business events industry. One way it does this is through educational opportunities, such as its upcoming virtual Master Class on how events can be managed both safely (in light of limiting the transmission of the coronavirus) and sustainably.
Many sustainability practices can responsibly co-exist with, and even support, the new health and safety protocols.
“There has been a knee-jerk reaction to get the industry going again since it was shut down, which is completely understandable,” says EGF Chair Greg McManus. “But we mustn’t disregard the progress and importance of sustainability in this process. We can’t use COVID-19 as an excuse for bad corporate practice.”
He adds that many sustainability practices can responsibly co-exist with, and even support, the new health and safety protocols as outlined in the Event Safety Council’s (ESC) Re-Opening Guidelines – a document that was created in in collaboration with the broader events industry through the SA Events Council.

The Master Class will be held on Wednesday, 18 November 2020 from 10:00-12:30.
