The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has issued a press statement revealing that the information currently circulating about its third phase of relief funding comes from confidential draft documents which were leaked. The third phase of relief funding has not yet been finalised and, as such, the leaked information should be ignored.
The Department urges the sector to wait until an official announcement is made.

The statement explains: “In its quest to ensure that there is transparency in its efforts to assist the sector, the Department held a consultative session with the sector organisations on Wednesday the 13th January 2021. The Department agreed to share the documents with the industry on their request but emphasized that these were confidential and that they were still in the draft phase.”
Unfortunately, the documents were subsequently leaked.
The Department would like to stress that as the relief funding is yet to be finalised, they cannot engage with any of the enquiries that they are currently receiving.
