SAACI has welcomed the government’s announcement made last week that a further extension has been made for TERS, the UIF’s financial support programme, with applications opening from 19 July 2021.
The Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI) has welcomed the news that the Unemployment Insurance Fund’s (UIF) temporary employment relief scheme (TERS) would be extended to ensure businesses affected by the Alert Level 4 lockdown could apply for funding support.
Applications open from 19 July 2021, with payments expected from 26 July 2021.
“SAACI welcomes the approval of the extension on the benefit… We will provide members with feedback on the appeals process for the backlog in benefit payments once received from the Department of Labour. The information received from industry has been collated and submitted to the workstream as indicated,” noted that association in its communication sent out on Friday, 16 July 2021.
SAACI has been actively involved in driving support from the UIF to the events industry, in addition to assisting with applications for support of not just its members but the industry as a whole.
One of the key differences of this extension is that employees will be paid directly into their bank accounts. The official gazette can be accessed here:
You can watch Glenton de Kock, SAACI CEO, on how the association is working to support the industry during this time. The video was shared on 07 July 2021.
